The Breast Cancer Society - Battling For
a Noble Cause
Breast
Cancer is one of those diseases known as the ‘silent killers’ that are
notorious for spreading internally within the body with a kind of stealth that
more often than not, makes it discoverable only when the disease is too far
gone and there is suspicion of widespread dissemination of the disease to other
areas of the body. However, modern advancements in medical science have bridged
the gap between the disease and the cure, but still requires awareness to be
spread to the masses about these blessings.
What
does the Breast Cancer Society do?
The
Breast Cancer Society is one of the premiere non-profit organizations working
for the social welfare of women, particularly Breast Cancer patients, that aims
to spread awareness about all the new modalities and forms of treatment that
have come forward in recent years as well as taking a more direct approach to
helping those suffering at the hands of this disease. The Society is based in
Arizona, U.S. and has centers operating all over the states and at international
locations too, seeking to facilitate these women by bringing them together to
voice their opinions, share their concerns and experiences and support each
other both emotionally and psychologically.
How
is all this possible?
These
purposes are achieved by a detailed plan devised by the Breast Cancer Society
that includes revolutionary initiatives like the Hope Supply Program, the many financial
aid programs, scholarship funds, and charity walks and community outreach
programs to aid in the hearing of these voices and help the women in need who
are going to this traumatic ordeal in life.
What
is the Hope Supply Program?
The
Hope Supply Program is one of the leading initiatives up taken by the Breast
Cancer Society and it is centered around the idea that the entire cost of the
treatment of Breast Cancer and the therapy is in fact, quite a burden for the
average household. To ease some of this load, the program contacts the major
retailers and franchisers in the locality and asks them to donate their overstock
and surplus items of everyday use, which are then provided directly to these
women affected by Breast Cancer. The items are delivered to one of the many
Hope Supply centers from which you can browse and select the products which you
want. The items available are mostly things of everyday use like household
items, bedding, hygiene products, clothing, wigs, bras and prosthetics.
How
can we help?
You
can help the society by donating funds to help support and propagate the cause,
by donating clothes and food items, by helping to raise money for the society,
by organizing charity walks and missions to spread awareness and last but not
the least, by just sharing your experiences with other people going through the
same dilemma and encouraging them to keep moving forward in the fight against
cancer, for it is one that we here at the Breast Cancer Society need your
utmost help and co-operation in winning.
